My name is Michelle and I am a volunteer from Canada. As soon as I visited RCDP Nepal's website, I was very impressed by the variety of programs and the reasonable program fees. I received a very quick reply from Hom, the country coordinator who called and answered any questions that I had. This definitely reassured me, as I knew the organization was reliable and ready to support my needs. This support was constant from signing up for my program, sending me preparation packages, answering my questions, giving advice right up to when I arrived in the country.
After a week in Nepal I am so happy that I travelled with RCDP, I have been given the tools and support by the staff which will allow the rest of my 10 weeks to be an incredible adventure. I was welcomed at the airport by an RCDP staff who brought me safely to the Hostel in Kathmandu. The hostel is very clean and welcoming, the food is very good and the water as well. I have felt very safe and well taken care of. I completed the first language and culture training program week, and had Nepali classes from 9am to 12 pm each morning. My teacher was great and we learnt all the basics and Nepali phrases that would help us be confident when communicating with the locals.
I am looking forward to the rest of my volunteer experience here in Nepal with the support of RCDP who continue to be flexible to my wants and needs! I have no regrets and would absolutely recommend RCDP to anyone who is looking to volunteer abroad.

My name is Beth, I am an 18 year old from England and with deciding that I wanted to do a gap year I knew that I wanted to go to Nepal. Having no experience travelling on my own I wanted to find a company who would provide me the security I needed to have everything organised before hand so that I didn't have to worry about organising things whilst I was in Nepal. I found the company gapforce who linked me with RCDP Nepal who in my opinion are amazing. I only found out about them once I got in Nepal but quickly realised it was them that had organised every step of my trip. As soon as I got to the hostel it felt like we had our own little family there, everyone in the RCDP staff is so welcoming that its hard not to feel like the hostel was a second home with good food, new friends and in the centre of Kathmandu so trips to attractions around were very easy. Part of my trip was language lessons for a week in Kathmandu, taught to us by Saman (RCDP staff). We immediately felt at ease and had a relationship with him not only as our teacher but as our friend. He made all 3 of the people in our group pass with flying colours! The second part of our stay in Nepal was a visit to Chitwan national park followed by volunteering at the conservation project in Rampor. We had one of the RCDP staff accompany us on the bus journey to Chitwan so they ensured our safe arrival. Had an amazing week in Chitwan (though it was cut short due to the strikes) riding elephants, doing a jungle walk, having an elephant bath, spotting rhinos, visiting the elephant breeding centre, experiencing the cultural stick dancing and helping maintain the nursary that supplied fruit and vegetables to the orphanage. With the strikes it meant there was a bit of panic about getting back to Kathmandu in time to catch our flight to Lukla to start the everest base camp trek. Lila, the RCDP representative in Chitwan was straight on hand to help us get out whilst we could, sending us on a local bus with another RCDP representative who ensured we got back to Kathmandu safely in time for our trek. The trek would not have been half as enjoyable if it hadn't been for our guide Gokul (hired through RCDP) who helped us step by step and managed to get us a night sleeping at base camp with an expedition team. RCDP are very flexible, affordable and are there to help you have the best experience possible. I would not have been able to enjoy my experience quite as much if it hadn't been for them guiding me and helping me chose the best possible things to see and do in Nepal. If you are wanting to travel Nepal RCDP are the best company to help you with your trip in my opinion, I would definitely use them again.

Having not booked through RCDP Nepal, I first found out about them on arrival. Since then RCDP Nepal have been brilliant at organizing everything and sorting out any last minute problems. They were really helpful from start to finnish and were happy to sit down and explain any questions you may have; whether they be about culture/traditions or the details of the trip. They are friendly and easy to approach.
They were able to sort out all the details of our trip including transport, host families to stay with and food along the way. The host family I stayed with were really welcoming, they spoke good English and taught us Nepali so communication wasn't a problem. The language course which RCDP provided was very useful at this point.
Overall I would use RCDP again as they are experienced, organized and always available if ever you have a question when you are on project.

I'm Michele Liptai from Switzerland, I'm 19 years old and I stay in Galle with Michael Ferreira's family.
I really love my life here, I felt at home from the first second I arrived in Michael's house!!! The whole family is so open and they help us whenever they can. They show us places you would never see as a 'normal tourist', for example a wonderful Batik or a secret beach...
Michael also arranged a bike for me, so I can go to the orphanage by bike and we went on a four-day-trip with him, which he organized, it was amazing...
Everything is so natural and familiar when you stay at Michael's house, I learned so much about the culture, the traditions and the religion in Sri Lanka and you get to know many friends and relatives from the family.
I also had the opportunity to join a film project with friends from the family, it's one of the best experiences I've ever made!!!
Also the location is a dream, the house is right next to the sea, so we can go swimming whenever we want and it's very easy to get to Galle Town by walking.

The work in the orphanage in beautiful, it feels so good to make all the children and the babies smile and to help them in their daily life...

I would strongly recommend this country, the organization 'RCDP Nepal', the work in the orphanage and above all Michael's family, it's wonderful...

I volunteered at Ruhunu Children Ophganage in Galle, Sri Lanka. I stayed with a local host family. The organiser and host father, Michael was outstanding. He helped me and the other volunteers in every aspect of our trip. Explaining the Sri Lankan culture, taking us on a 4 day trip around the country visiting many historical sites, and organising SIM cards. He know a lot about the area, making it easy to get around, visit the best places and shops. His extended family were great fun to be around. The family was always around chatting and sharing a meal. It is a very homely atmosphere. Everything was flexible, from hours spent volunteering at the the orphanage to going on trips or going out for dinner. I met a few other volunteers while I was here and we would catch up for a meal or go to the beach. The host mother was a fantastic cook and I loved the Sri Lankan food. She would cater for vegetarians or those who can't tolerate much spice. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone. RCDP Sri Lanka is a very affordable, safe and flexible volunteering option.
