A Broader View Volunteers Corp

I really really loved my time in Cusco. The people I met through traveling, and other volunteers were absolutely amazing. I always had something to do in town and the time flew by. Volunteering in Peru has taught me so much about different cultures, mentality, values, and way of life.
My program in the clinic was exactly what I wanted to do. The nurses I worked with were so kind and encouraging of me, which really motivated me to go work there everyday.
I absolutely fell in love with Peru and Cusco. I feel as though I really took advantage of my month in Cusco to explore the city and get integrated, and yet I still feel like I there was so much more I didn’t see. Cusco is incredibly beautiful and cultured with many quaint side streets, historical sights, and activities. You won’t be bored!

International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ)

Volunteering in a different country with an entirely different culture and language altogether has changed my perspective on the different lifestyles each individual may have. Being in Vietnam for a month, I've learned that a simple smile speaks so much more than words could, especially with the language barrier. Making friends with other volunteers from different countries and hearing their own stories of their own cultures has also broadened my view of other nations.

Overall my stay in Vietnam was truly a great investment. Not only did I make friends from all over the world, I made friends with whom I had great and amazing adventures with even in a short period of time. I've gained so much exposure that I couldn't have ever gotten just from watching videos or even documentaries on the TV or the internet. You've got to experience it all by yourself by taking that leap of faith and stepping into an unknown ground. Trust me, you might not like it at first, but over time, it'll grow on to you. Just like how Vietnam has grown on to me. When I look back on my volunteering experience in Vietnam, I'll always feel a sense of warmth. Till then Vietnam9especially my IVHQ family there), I'll see you soon!

Frontier

Spent the last month on a journalism placement with Coverstory Ltd as a Frontier volunteer - a completely unforgettable experience which I would definitely recommend.

PRE-PROJECT SUPPORT AND COORDINATION
Information and field brief ensured my project was exactly as detailed. However, the website could be improved for ease of access to get this information, and would like to have had access to the field brief sooner than a month before the project. Project blogs/videos very useful to give a clear idea of what to expect.

ACCOMODATION
The homestay with a Fijian family was exactly as expected, due to the helpful vlog tour which I had seen before arrival. Was a brilliant way to properly immerse myself in the culture, the family was incredibly welcoming. In addition, the food provided was both healthy and tasty - the living arrangements, while not overly luxurious, are comfortable and practical.

WORK
The staff were supportive, and willing to answer any questions. Felt my experience was worthwhile due to the range of work and responsibility on offer. Only negative would be the initial workload which meant I spent a couple of days without assignments. Though this was resolved by the third/fourth day, other volunteers expressed similar discontent so does depend on the time of month you arrive and how much is available.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE
Staff on project were amazing - very supportive, genuinely caring and willing to go above and beyond. Only other improvement would be that Frontier more actively encourages volunteers to spend time in their location when the project is finished - I didn't think of this, but would definitely have done it if advised!

Institute for Field Research Expeditions - IFRE

My experience in Sri Lanka has been very good. I had an amazing time during my time as a volunteer. I was helping with kids in the orphanage in Galle and I am so glad I did that. It is an incredible experience which changed my viewpoint on many things in life.

In relation to company I went through, I can only say positive things about them..especially my coordinator in Sri Lanka - Michael. He is so great. He was very helpful, he was taking care of me as I was one of his children... he made my stay brilliant and I can only recommend being volunteer in Sri Lanka.

Projects Abroad

I absolutely loved my time volunteering in Nepal. Projects Abroad was very helpful in the pre-trip process, while I was there, and following up once we left. The people of Nepal are some of my favorite people I've met in all of my travels. Projects Abroad was a very good mix of support while there and allowing us to make the experience our own. I volunteered in a Physical Therapy clinic and the Therapists there taught me so much and I now feel so much more ready for graduate school. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
